"The Indian education system is one of the largest in the world. This sector is undergoing rapid transformation by offering flexible, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary learning to help students develop the skills and competencies required for the twenty-first century. To achieve these goals, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), virtual laboratories and artificial intelligence have been integrated into the teaching-learning process to make education more learner-centric, accessible and interactive. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 provides a roadmap for the transformation of higher education in India. Its core principles include access, equity, quality, accountability and affordability. It also reinforces students' cultural roots by incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Systems into contemporary curricula, thereby ensuring a balance between Indigenous wisdom and scientific inquiry. Furthermore, the establishment of campuses of leading foreign universities in India has made international education accessible to students. These developments have placed greater responsibility on educational institutions to demonstrate the measurable impact of their educational initiatives through excellence in teaching, research and innovation. Thus, the challenge before higher education institutions is not only to adapt to change but also to lead it by contributing meaningfully to national development and global progress."

""Just like in software, libraries also have a front end and a back end. On the front end, you have lifelong learners walking into a library to satisfy a simple curiosity. That curiosity turns into a passion for a subject, a project they pursue, and sometimes even a career they build over a lifetime. We need more of these curiosity creators in the form of libraries all over the country. On the back end, there is an entire discipline of library and information science. It is about organizing knowledge, creating high-quality metadata, building catalogs, classification systems, authority records, and retrieval systems so that the right information reaches the right person at the right time. In today's world of AI, library science is not just relevant, but one of the intellectual foundations on which better AI is built. Modern AI systems increasingly rely on retrieval, metadata, indexing, and knowledge organization - ideas that libraries have refined over generations. By connecting university libraries across India, maintaining shared catalogues, preserving theses and dissertations through Shodhganga, and promoting common metadata and cataloguing standards, they have made scholarly knowledge more discoverable and reusable at a national scale. "्रो. एस. आर. रंगनाथन की 134वीं जयंती पर पुस्तकालयाध्यक्ष दिवस के इस राष्ट्रव्यापी अभियान से जुड़कर मुझे हार्दिक प्रसन्नता हो रही है। “पुस्तकालयः लोगों को जोड़ना, ज्ञान को संरक्षित करना, भविष्य को सशक्त बनाना" -यह विषय आज के समय में पहले से कहीं अधिक सार्थक है। हम चौथी औद्योगिक क्रांति के उस दौर में खड़े हैं, जहाँ आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, बिग डेटा और डिजिटल तकनीके ज्ञान के सृजन और प्रसार की गति को अभूतपूर्व रूप से बदल रही हैं। ऐसे समय में पुस्तकालय केवल किताबों के संग्रहालय नहीं, बल्कि विश्वसनीय, सत्यापित और सुव्यवस्थित ज्ञान तक पहुँच सुनिश्चित करने वाली रीढ़ हैं। जितनी तेज़ी से सूचना का विस्तार हो रहा है, उतनी ही ज़रूरी हो जाती है पुस्तकालयों की वह भूमिका, जो शोर में से सार्थक ज्ञान को छानकर समाज और राष्ट्र-निर्माण के काम आए। इसी दिशा में हमारी प्राचीन पांडुलिपियाँ हमारी सबसे अनमोल धरोहर हैं। आज की पीढ़ी, जो परंपरागत किताबें पढ़ने में उतनी रुचि नहीं रखती, उस तक इन पांडुलिपियों को डिजिटल, दृश्यश्रव्य और सहज सुलभ रूपों में पहुँचाना हमारी ज़िम्मेदारी है। जब हम इन्हें आधुनिक तकनीक के माध्यम से नई पीढ़ी की भाषा में प्रस्तुत करते हैं, तभी सदियों पुराना ज्ञान वास्तव में जीवित और प्रासंगिक बना रहता है। पुस्तकालयों की भूमिका यहीं समाप्त नहीं होती। शोध नैतिकता (रिसर्च एथिक्स) की समझ बनाना, साहित्यिक चोरी (प्लेगरिज्म) के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाना और सही उद्धरण पद्धति सिखाना आज हर शिक्षण संस्थान की आवश्यकता है - और यह ज़िम्मेदारी स्वाभाविक रूप से पुस्तकालयों पर आती है। साथ ही, स्थानीय और मातृभाषाओं में ज्ञान की उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करना भी उतना ही ज़रूरी है, ताकि शिक्षा केवल कुछ भाषाओं तक सीमित न रहकर हर विद्यार्थी तक पहुँचे।"
